When ever I shop online I always do a search for coupons - most of the time right when I am about to hit the submit order button!! - just incase I can make a saving on shipping or some other discount is available. I am hoping that this site will help me streamline this process!

I emailed the awesome guys over at silkscreeningsupplies.com for some advice about what emulsion I should buy, seeing I am running low on my intro Speedball emulsion and I wasn't too impressed with the level of detail I was getting out of that brand ... they wrote back with some life changing info that I just tested out today with fabulous results.


Ryan suggested that I use a 500 Watt Halogen work lamp instead of the 100 watt bulb suggested by Speeadball, I got mine for $9.98 in-store at ACE but any hardware store should stock them. He told me to place it 18" above the screen and expose for 13mins - it worked soooo well I cant believe it, no over exposure or detail lost, no scrubbing out unexposed areas, and only 13min wait instead of the 34mins I was doing previously!


Anyway, hope this helps anyone out there having the same problem as me, I am so happy to have two new perfectly exposed screens! Yee-ha!

I have sensible storage at last! Matt made me my very own custom shelving for the sewing/guest/exercise room and now almost everything has an easily accessible home. I am really happy with the final product, I think Matty had fun making it (although the MDF warped a little whist in storage and I think that made the job a lot harder). I also think he is glad that it is done so he can get on with some smaller, less unwieldy projects :)

So thanks my darling Matt for making stuff especially for me .....now come over here and lets talk about storage for my patterns ...hmmmmmm

I am in production mode today, only allowed to spend an hour on etsy looking at stuff (yeah right!) Gotta get some of these new birdy-oo pouches up! I have also go to get moving on making some more screens, I have been lazy and am sitting here staring at the frames Matt an made up, oh, say, 4 weeks ago!! I just have to get them meshed and then I can think about my new screen designs - exciting!

soopa busy!

Well I have been soopa busy with our etsy shop right now, have kind of left blogging in the dust of jobs to do. I am so excited about my latest ventures on etsy, I have started making little tissue holders, and I also got a custom pouch order that I think I might make a regular thing of!


I am currently trying to design up some more silkscreens, I am thinking more along the lines of some abstract botanicals, leafy, twiggy stuff. I also want to start trying out some dual colored items too just to see how it looks with a couple of different screens on the same layout.

I am also totally excited about promoting our little store, we just got our first business cards and I am looking into little pins and stickers too, so much fun!!! The big stumbling block seems to be how to promote the store, it's hard to get the word out, and I suppose because we only have few items up our store it might look a little uncommitted - I just need to take a week off work and craft my brains out!

A prezzie for my sister in craft, Betsey! Did some fun stenciling on this one, a little grown up version of birdy-oo and some classy branch/blossom designs. This was a fun one and I decided to go back to one of my first bag patterns that has the flat bottom for extra storage capacity, I hope that I finally have this flat bottom technique down now I remember messing up that first one pretty badly, at least 30 mins of unpicking time - suck.

So I am really getting ramped up now to do some real silk screening, I have all the necessary equipment (hinge clamps are shipping as we speak) and Matt an I have had serious talks about how and where I am going to do all the clean up - which I totally forgot about not having any appropriate space for! I think it is going to be an outside affair so thank goodness for the oncoming warm weather (hope!).

I find that I cant be bothered blogging nowadays, I tend to just post my photos on Flickr and that is that, but I guess I should catalogue my crafty adventures just so that I know what I did and when. I just never really know what to say about my stuff I guess.

Well here is my latest sewing accomplishment, a screen printed onesie and a pair of felt booties. I really want to do some more bootie experiments (oo, naughty!) but I am just not having any luck with my own patterns, I hope my Japanese sewing book gets here soon, Yesasia is taking their sweet time on delivering it (month and half now).

I have been obsessed lately by Japanese craft books/magazines, I dont own any but I am very tempted to get a few to pump up the ever dwindling motivation to sew/craft/etc. I put together a list of ones that I found at yesasia.com to save some time for those looking - their keyword search is not very useful, so I visited a bunch of other peoples craft blogs and found some IBSN numbers that worked or led me to find other books along the same lines.

Again, I do not own any of these and I am not even sure how great they are, I just wanted to keep track of them somehow if I ever find any more info about them (some of them have links to more info in the photo description when you click on "PHOTO LINK")
